Application Requirements

Requirements for the VAL Law Internship Program

  • Enrolled in a reputable law school program (i.e., Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws) or equivalent legal academic program.

  • Excellent command of the English language.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and legal research tools (i.e., Lex Libris, etc.).

  • Eagerness to learn and be exposed to real and live legal matters.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all legal matters exposed to.

 

How to Apply: Please submit the following documents to VAL Law’s Internship Program Head, Atty. Reginald Anton J. Puno (“Program Head”) at reginald.j.puno@law.law:

  • Cover Letter

  • Resume

  • Proof of enrollment reputable law school program (i.e., Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws) or equivalent legal academic program

  • Transcript of records

  • Legal writing sample

Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct a variety of legal assignments under the direction and supervision of VAL Law’s Partners and in close collaboration with the Associates.
Conduct research on assigned legal issues, analyze information, and summarize findings.
Conducting comparative legal analysis on a range of issues, identify legal issues, research relevant precedents, and propose appropriate solutions and strategies.
Participate in project teams with VAL Law lawyers.
Assist in the preparation and organization of conferences and meetings.
Perform other legal assignments as requested by the supervising lawyer in connection with the foregoing.

Evaluations on Performance: After the VAL Law Internship Program has been completed, the Program Head will complete the intern’s Evaluation and Grading Form providing the following: 

  1. number of hours completed;

  2. date of completion;

  3. description of work done;

  4. evaluation of intern (i.e., strong points, points for improvement, recommendations and/or comments); and

  5. grade.

 

If the intern obtains a passing mark from the Program Head, the intern shall thereafter receive a Certificate of Completion. The intern who receives an excellent evaluation as mentioned above shall be given preference in his/her application to join VAL Law for future employment.

Duration of Internship

The VAL Law Internship Program is offered during the summer break where the law student has the option of completing either the 120-hour or 240-hour program. The interns will be required to report to the VAL Law Offices where they will be working in close proximity with VAL Law’s lawyers to optimize their experience.
